I can’t stress this enough — understanding your skin type is the first real step toward achieving a flawless base.
 
I made the mistake early on of choosing makeup just based on coverage and shade, without thinking about whether my skin was oily, dry, or somewhere in between.
 
That led to so many disasters — foundation sliding off my oily T-zone, or clinging to my dry patches and making them stand out even more.
 
Once I took the time to really assess my skin — I realized I had combination skin — I started using a matte primer on my oily areas and a hydrating formula on dry spots.
 
It instantly improved how my makeup applied and lasted.
